Between the 6th and 8th of September 2022, the JCBRN Defence Centre of Excellence (COE) conducted the second iteration of the CBRN Warning and Reporting (W&R) Centre Management Course, a NATO approved residential course. This course focused on CBRN staff personnel who need to understand, use, and create input to NATO CBRN W&R system. The course was conducted in close cooperation with representatives from Bruhn NewTech. Based on student feedback from the previous year’s course, new briefings were added on the management, use, and experience of W&R organization not only at NATO HQ level but also at the National HQ level.

Theoretical lessons and practical group work was conducted by 13 participants from 10 nations (Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, France, Greece, Lithuania, Netherlands, Italy, and Poland). Within the syllabus, students had an opportunity to work in groups, practicing Centre management duties within two scenarios: one focused on Article 5 operations, whilst the second concentrated on non-Article 5 operations. All participants appreciated the opportunity to share experiences and ideas with colleagues from a range of nations and command levels.

Bruhn NewTech representative Mr. Henning Christensen van Brussel provided theoretical lectures and practical group work to the training audience. He was supported by OR-7 Randy Wilson from JFC Naples and OF-1 Lukáš Kaňka from 314th Czech CBRN Monitoring Centre.

Student feedback reflected the course’s usefulness in adding value to both their current assignments and career development.
