The aim of the course is to:

  1. Familiarise participants with NATO WMD Disablement policy, strategy, doctrine and approaches.
  2. Provide participants with an introduction to NATO WMD Disablement activities and planning considerations.
  3. Enable participants to incorporate WMDD activities into NATO operations.

Learning Objective:

  1. Familiarise participants with WMD/CBRN threats;
  2. Explain NATO’s role in WMD Non-Proliferation and Counter-Proliferation;
  3. Explain the relationship between CBRN Defence and WMDD;
  4. Enable an understanding of the WMD Disablement functional concept;
  5. Enable participants to understand WMD Disablement activities for planning considerations;
  6. Understand the principles needed to plan and execute WMD Disablement operations;
  7. Understand the differences between NATO and National WMD Disablement operations;
  8. Familiarise participants with National WMD Disablement Doctrine, Strategy and Policy;
  9. Familiarise participants with International Organisations’ roles and responsibilities in Non-Proliferation and Counter-Proliferation.

Expected Training Audience:

Planners at NATO Headquarters, National Ministries of Defence, subordinate military headquarters or agencies, as well as WMDD formations and staff (Intelligence, WMD/CBRN Defence, EOD, C-IED, MP, SOF etc.).
  1. Military officers (OF-3 through OF-5);
  2. NCOs (OR-7 through OR-9);
  3. Civilian equivalents dealing with WMD disablement.
