Adriana Tamara Noort Internship experience
Over the course of September 2025 and March 2026, I was given the opportunity to intern at the JCBRN Defence COE in Vyškov. This period has been an enriching experience where I have been able to gather new insights of the CBRN and military environment. During this period, I conducted research on the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence integration into Operational Planning Processes. This research aimed to understand and address the possibilities, limitations, and challenges of AI integration and future steps forward.
In addition to conducting research, the JCBRN Defence COE has offered me multiple opportunities to attend courses and conferences. First, by attending the Consequent Management Course, I gained valuable insights on CBRN threats and response strategies. This course delivered both theoretical lectures and syndicate exercises, providing the opportunity to apply the knowledge learned from the theoretical lectures immediately. Additionally, this course has been a great opportunity to work together with experts and learn from their experiences and approaches in dealing with CBRN scenarios. The second course I was able to attend was a CBRN preparedness course at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, CTU in Prague. During this course, I learned more about protective equipment, medical procedures, modeling and simulation, and the CBRN fire units. It provided me with new insights from professionals, where I was able to try on this protective equipment and simulate potential CBRN accidents. These experiences have strengthened my practical skills, broadening my understanding of CBRN, and further enhancing my ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
I am more than grateful for the JCBRN Defence COE for not only providing me with these opportunities but also being so kind and welcoming from the beginning. I truly had a wonderful time where, next to the internship, I was able to attend marching days and the winter evaluation. Furthermore, being invited for celebrations and several dinners really reflects the welcoming nature of the JCBRN Defence COE. I would like to thank everyone who made this internship such a memorable and enriching experience. Your support, guidance, and openness created an environment in which I could both learn and feel genuinely included, and I will carry these experiences and connections with me moving forward.
