Iga Sliwska Internship experience

I had the privilege of completing my internship at the JCBRN Defence Centre of Excellence from April to June 2026. During my internship, my research focused on CBRN defence as a deterrence tool, specifically from the perspective of strategic signalling.

At first, I was a little intimidated by the environment and unsure of what to expect. However, every aspect of the experience exceeded my expectations. From day one, I was welcomed by incredibly supportive, approachable, and knowledgeable people who were always willing to help. Working alongside my supervisor,

Tomas, was both inspiring and intellectually stimulating, and I had the chance to contribute to meaningful projects while learning a great deal, deepen my understanding of CBRN-related issues, and gain insight into international security. One of the highlights of my internship was participating in an international training programme in the Czech Republic and Bavaria. It was a combination of practical exercises with cross-border cooperation, allowing me to strengthen my skills in crisis response, civil protection.

I would highly recommend this internship to anyone considering applying. Beyond the professional knowledge and practical experience I gained, my time at the JCBRN Defence Centre of Excellence sparked a genuine passion for this field. It planted the seed for an interest that I know will continue to grow throughout my career, and I am truly grateful to have been part of such an inspiring environment. I am sincerely grateful for this opportunity and for everyone who made my internship such a rewarding experience.
