Strengthening NATO Collaboration: JCBRN Defence COE Hosts CIMIC COE for Professional Development and Future Cooperation
The JCBRN Defence COE continuously monitors new developments and seeks out additional partners in areas of common interest. Representatives from other NATO military bodies, industry, academia, and international or non-governmental organizations are always welcome to provide their briefings during the regular monthly Professional Development sessions. This can be beneficial as one of the Centre’s core responsibilities is working with the Alliance to prevent, protect, and recover from CBRN incidents. Within this scope, the JCBRN Defence COE hosted LTC Peter Schäfer, the Concepts, Interoperability, Capabilities Branch Chief of the Civil-Military Cooperation Centre of Excellence.
The visit took place on the morning of 27 February 2025. LTC Schäfer was first provided with an in-depth briefing on the JCBRN Defence COE’s history, mission, structure, tasks, responsibilities and the work strands of its departments. Afterwards, he briefed on the CIMIC COE, the importance of the joint function of civil-military cooperation, and the challenges of civil-factor integration and civil-military interaction activities. The meeting ended with exchanging ideas on future cooperation and joint projects to keep both centres at the forefront of helping NATO meet its transformation objectives.
The JCBRN Defence COE would like to thank the CIC Branch Chief for his visit, and we look forward to an enduring partnership.
