The JCBRN Defence COE joined the NATO Science and Technology Organization (STO) Human Factors and Medicine panel, a group, that as its name indicates, is focused on the Study, Design, Building and Deployment of a CBRN XR Training Platform.

From 7 – 9 March 2023 the group met in Prague, Czech Republic, with the objective of conducting comparative research studies on the most suitable scenarios that can be "virtualized" and simulated in an extended reality - or XR context - covering key scenario elements for all areas of CBRN defence. The team is keen on creating training software and hardware designed to produce functional XR CBRN defence mission operator training scenarios using advancing elements of extended reality. The JCBRN Defence COE is thrilled to learn more about this specific objective: the integrated CBRN XR mask. In support of this objective, the JCBRN Defence COE is happy to confirm that it will be hosting the next meeting of this panel, in Vyskov from 14 to 16 November 2023. During this event, members of the JCBRN Defence COE will get to experience CBRN XR training, as we continue to look for innovative ways to bring our training further into the 21st century, further meeting the needs of our NATO audience.
