 The 13th meeting of the DTP was held in Copenhagen, Denmark from the 25th to 29th October 2009. The meeting was chaired by LTC Manfred HAGEN (JCBRN Defence COE).

29 delegates from 13 NATO nations, the JCBRN Defence COE and NATO Allied Command Operations (ACO) as well as one NATO Partnership for Peace (PfP) nation (SWE) attended the meeting to discuss the progress achieved in the development of several essential CBRN doctrinal publications. The 13th meeting held in Copenhagen was characterized with a proactive approach from all participants, which bore fruit in the results achieved by all syndicates. This was a successful and very productive meeting. ATP-3.8.1 Vol.I will be promulgated in December 2009 and AJP-3.8 as well as ATP-3.8.1 Vol.III moved significantly towards ratification.

           During the period 10 – 11 November 2009, the Spanish delegation visited the JCBRN Defence COE. On the first day of the visit the delegation met JCBRN Defence COE Director COL Zdeněk Čížek. He introduced the COE concept, mission, structure and Program of Work for 2010. The Chief of departments gave an overview brief of the work and the development in their area which has been completed in the last three years of the COE. The commander of the delegation, LTC Jose Castro, was very interested in COE work. On the second day of the visit the Spanish delegation visited the Live Agent Training Area “Kamenná Chaloupka”.

          On Monday 9 November 2009, Eric Stevenson, the Assistant Director of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Directorate of the Australian Forces visited the JCBRN Defence COE.  Mr Stevenson was welcomed by JCBRN Defence COE Director COL Zdeněk Čížek, who briefed him about the COE concept, structure and future plans of the COE. The visit brought an interesting exchange of information about the concept of CBRN defence and support on both sides.

            The JCBRN Defence COE hosted a conference to discuss "Support to NRF and Lessons Learned"  from 15-16 October 2009.  The conference aimed to share experiences from the JCBRN Def COE's contribution to the NRF in the form of providing the core of the CBRN Joint Assessment Team and use the Lessons Identified from this to assist other COEs with their support to NATO Deployable Operations. 

            The second principal aim was to share and gain consensus on a concept for COEs to support the NATO Lessons Learned Process.  Also discussed was an Information and Knowledge Management system to support the sharing of COEs Lessons more effectively.  As the only COE to have supported to the NRF by acting as the lead organisation for a formed deployable unit, the JCBRN Def COE is uniquely placed to provide advice on how NATO can best use the capability that COEs can offer.

           On 15 and 16 September 2009, the JCBRN Defence COE Steering Committee met for 7th time in its history. The JCBRN Defence COE Director COL Zdenek Čížek welcomed all national representatives and in his speech he pointed out the short, but dynamic development of the COE and its more comprehensive role in the CBRN area. He also gave his appreciation to the Framework Nation for their support and to the Sponsoring Nations for their experiences, which reflects highly on the COE.
