The JCBRN Defence Centre of Excellence participated at the 8th MPC WS in Skopje, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*. The motto of this year’s workshop was “Partnership: projecting stability through cooperation”, reflecting NATO’s transformation under the impression of new security challenges. The JCBRN Defence COE was represented by Major Veronika GOLKOVÁ and Warrant Officer Pavel SKOPAL.


On 11 and 12 April 2018, a delegation, headed by the Director of the JCBRN Defence COE COL (GS) Vratislav OSVALD, visited the Austrian company Seibersdorf Laboratories. The delegation followed an official invitation arranged by the Forces Development Division of the Austrian MoD and was welcomed by the managing director of Seibersdorf Laboratories Mrs. Dr. Martina SCHWAIGER and the Consultant Dr. Chris SCHMITZER.

JCBRN Defence COE lost its long-time member Staff Captain (DEU A) Dietmar Trees. Staff Captain Trees will retire on 31st March 2018. Dietmar joined JCBRN Defence COE on 8th January 2013. He filled the position of the COE´s Information Knowledge Management Executive Officer (IKM XO). He has contributed with his outstanding professionalism and with his strong commitment; broad experience and acceptance of a wide range of responsibilities that cover the function of IKM XO. He continuously supported and represented the COE in the highest professional manner.

Colonel Osvald hands over 'Laudi Memorabilis'

A CBRN Awareness for First Responders Course was organized by the JCBRN Defence COE at the NATO-ICI Regional Centre in the State of Kuwait from 18 to 22 March 2018. This was a follow up to the Comprehensive CBRN Incident Commanders’ Course which was run in December 2017. The course was again supported by the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme.
