Read more: Austrian Defence Attaché to the Czech Republic visited the JCBRN Defence COEThe Joint CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence (JCBRND COE) hosted a visit by the Austrian Defence Attaché to the Czech Republic Colonel Karl FITSCH on the 10th September 2019. This was the first official visit by the Austrian Defence Attaché, since he took over this responsibility in 2018. The aim of this visit was to gain insight into the JCBRND COE in Vyškov and to establish a personal contact to the Austrian CBRN Defence Staff Officer, who is working in the Transformation Support Department since October 2016, as a Capability Development and Defence Planning Deputy Section Chief.

Read more: Canada joined the CentreThe 14 December 2018 was another important day in the Joint Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defence Centre of Excellence (JCBRN Defence COE) history as the Canada became a new member of the Centre. The number of Sponsoring Nations, which have decided to support NATO’s transformation process in the CBRN Defence area, has now increased from twelve to thirteen, respectively fourteen with Austria as a Contributing Partner.

Read more: Training Requirements Analysis WorkshopThe NATO CBRN Community of Interest and Education Training Facilities participated in the Training Requirements Analysis Workshop (TRA WS). The JCBRN Defence COE, the Department Head (DH) for the NATO WMD/CBRND Education and Training Discipline, was honoured to host this special event over the period 28 to 31 January 2019. In total 23 participants from across NATO HQs (ACT, SHAPE, JCBRN Defence COE, NATO HQ - IMS, JFCBS, LANDCOM, NRDC-T Turkey), Education Training Facilities (JCBRN Defence COE, NATO School Oberammergau, NMIOTC) and other stakeholders (Joint Warfare Centre, US liaison to GBR Defence CBRN Centre, CZE 31st CBRN Regiment, AUT CBRN Defence Centre, POL MoD CBRN) enthusiastically attended the workshop.

The US Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the JCBRN Defence COE Training, Exercises and Education Department conducted the final iteration of the International Radiological Assistance Programme Training for Emergency Response (I-RAPTER) Basic Course (ETOC code: WMD-CD-21765). The training occurred in and around the COE in Vyskov over the period 25 February to 01 March 2019.

Read more: The CBRN Analysis Super User – Refresher Course 2019It was the JCBRN Defence COE’s honour to continue with the excellent cooperation and relationship with the Bruhn NewTech Company, Denmark. Since 2012, Mr Erik Schmidt Nielsen has returned to the vicinity of the JCBRN Defence COE to conduct a two-day CBRN Analysis Super User – Refresher Course. The course design introduces changes, new features and improvements made to CBRN Analysis, Warning and Reporting software. This program is the current NATO standard for evaluating CBRN events or incidents and is based on STANAG 2103, ATP-45 (E). Repeating his success from last year, Mr. Nielsen trained the course participants together with Mrs. Dorte Sandager. They are both highly experienced as super users, instructors and lectors.
